Lighthouse 5th Anniversary

We gathered on Saturday, November 1st to Celebrate Lighthouse Bible Church's 5th anniversary. We enjoyed an early Thanksgiving dinner -- turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, etc. and then shared some songs and testimonies of how God has blessed us, individually and as a church family.
We first met as a church in October 2003, in a borrowed storefront in Tannersville, NY, a few miles east of our present location. We're thankful for the completion of our first year in our present spot on Main Street in Hunter. With our history of frequent moves during our first 4 years, a whole year in one place is a longevity record for us! From 2003 to 2007 we met in various places while praying and searching for a permanent church home: in 2 store fronts, a tent, a living room, a youth center, and in another church, who graciously had opened their doors for us when we were temporarily "homeless". God has always provided -- even keeping the rain away during our tent meeting days. We never had a rain storm during church time for that entire summer.....pretty amazing (and, no, it was NOT during a drought!). We had our first Vacation Bible School this past summer (see some pictures posted in another album on this site.) We are excited to see what God will do over the next 5 years and beyond!

Better late than never -- here are just a few pictures of our very first Vacation Bible School which was held at our church, Lighthouse Bible Church, August 11-15. We had a great time and made many brand new contacts with families in the area. We know of 2 children who accepted the Lord this week. God did that!

Christian Country Gospel Music Concert

All are welcome to join us for an evening of Country Gospel Music with two of our favorite singers, John Osborne of Hunter, NY and Larry Barrett of Abingdon Virginia. You will be blessed and uplifted by the music and ministry of these two gifted gospel singers. Refreshments will follow the concert. Admission is free, A freewill offering will be taken.

Family Fellowship Night -- All are Welcome

Spaghetti dinner, followed by a message by Joel Uptegrove, friend of Lighthouse Bible Church and assistant pastor in West Shokan, NY. Pastor Joel is the custodian for the apartment complex property where Lighthouse is located and was used mightily by God to prepare the building for our use and to help us get settled in. We are looking forward to hearing what he will have to say.
There is no charge for the supper. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit Pastor Joel's ministry.

Family Night Supper

Join us for a potluck supper and fellowship, followed by a message by our special guest, Perry Jones of the Capital City Rescue Mission, Albany, NY. There is no charge, and all are welcome! Bring a favorite dish if you wish, or just come to enjoy the food and fellowship. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Mission.

Lighthouse Bible Church's 4th Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, Dec 1, we held an Open House at our new church home on Main St, Hunter, NY. Our church was started in October, 2003, and since that first service we have met in 7 or 8 different locations. We are so happy to be here, in the "heart" of Hunter, right across from the Post Office and next door to a large apartment building filled with people and children of all ages. We are the only Christian church in town. We also took some time to celebrate John Osborne's 30th anniversary in his Country Gospel Music ministry. John and his wife Diane are our friends and partners in this Lighthouse Ministry, serving as deacon and treasurer since the beginning.
We had a wonderful time of praise and fellowship and are looking forward to our fifth year of shining the Light in the darkness of these beautiful mountains. The following pictures capture a few of the many friends, old and new, that visited the church during this open house.
