Things To Be Thankful For

Dear Ann Landers:

I hope you will print something a friend in Australia sent me.

I think it's perfect to run on Thanksgiving. -- Bee in Fairfax, Va.

Dear Bee:

Please send my best wishes and warm thanks to your friend in

Australia. Here's the thoughtful piece she sent:

Things to Be Thankful For

Be thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means you have

enough to eat.

Be thankful for the mess you clean up after a party, because it means you have

been surrounded by friends.

Be thankful for the taxes you pay, because it means you're employed.

Be thankful that your lawn needs mowing and your windows need fixing, because

it means you have a home.

Be thankful for your heating bill, because it means you are warm.

Be thankful for the laundry, because it means you have clothes to wear.

Be thankful for the space you find at the far end of the parking lot, because it

means you can walk.

Be thankful for the lady who sings off-key behind you in church, because it

means you can hear.

Be thankful when people complain about the government, because it means we

have freedom of speech.

Be thankful for the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it

means you're alive.

At the Fair

Kind of like a roller coaster without the ups and downs.

We spent Labor Day at the Delaware County Fair in Chatham, NY -- the best part was enjoying the children enjoying the rides. Samuel was smiling and humming songs all day. Anna's favorite was the purple dragon ride.

Samuel and the Yogurt

Laura, thought you might enjoy this....typical Samuel, misunderstood by Grammy.....He was just trying to clean up the spill with the tool he had on hand - his spoon!
I believe it was taken in February.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST - please pray for Mitch, a missionary friend, who is hospitalized with a very high fever. He and his wife serve in Tanzania. I know they would appreciate your prayers right now.  He is not doing well. God is in control.

Thank you. Nancy

Around Lexington

In January we moved to "the other side of the mountain" - the town of Lexington, about 20 miles away from Maplecrest. We are now closer to our church (only about 15 min away) which is in Hunter. Lexington is a new area for us, and now that the weather is warmer we are beginning to get out and explore our new surroundings -- here are a few shots of the hills and dales within walking distance of our home.

Over the river and through the woods...

We miss the grandchildren terribly since we moved to Lexington, but one blessing are the special times when Anna and Samuel visit Grammy and Grandpa's house....we have fun and snacks, and we even sleep (a little).

Welcome, Elisia Jane

Our new granddaughter arrived at approximately 9:50 pm on Monday, February 9. She weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and is just beautiful (if we do say so ourselves!) Big sister Anna is very happy and proud. Big brother Samuel is still making up his mind. We'll post more pictures as soon as we unpack the memory card we need for the picture phone -- it's in a box somewhere!

Why do I have to be commanded to love God, my Creator, my Heavenly Father, my Rock? Could it be because of my rebellious, fallen nature?

How can I help but love Him? Click on the link above for some thoughts on the subject.

New Year's Visit 2009

They span the generations - Kristina is the youngest of Mom's grandchildren and Anna is the first great Grandchild.

My brother Ed and Debbie and their family made their traditional holiday trek to the mountains to visit us -- this year on New Year's Day. The children, whose ages span from 3 to 15 have a great time together and we adults get along fine, too!
