I think you will enjoy this video of a youth orchestra in Venezuela

If you haven't seen it, you MUST see this video.  "That smiling conductor is the new conductor of the LA Philharmonic who will take over next year or the year after that.  He is the most sought after young conductor in the world!    His name is Gustavo Dudamel."  If you type his name in Google, there are many websites that talk about him.  And...he's 26 years old!"

This reminds me of my days in BHS band. (not really...) It's alot of fun...enjoy!

Some Old Photos

The back of the photo says, "Maplecrest, Catskill Mts, Sept 1926. Ready for a days work.
Grand Ma, Mother, Vogland, and Shep the dog."

I had some fun scanning these old photos -- if anyone can add any details to any of them, please do!
Enjoy!

Maplecrest Thanksgiving 2007

We have so much to be thankful for!

It was a warm day with some rain showers here in the Catskills - a little unusual for this time of year. But by 8 pm the temps had dipped into the 20's and we had a dusting of snow. We had a quiet holiday, with Michael in Iraq, but enjoyed the day with the children, and a wonderful feast prepared by Laura. It was nice to have Michael's dad here too. We pray for peace protection, and a joyful reunion in the days to come. Lord willing, next year will be a THANKSGIVING BLAST!

Run, run, run!

This is one of Anna and Samuel's favorite games. They have the most fun when Aunt Carrie runs with them, but we all take our turns: "You'd better run, here I come---I'm gonna get you!!"

Adirondack Weekend 11-7-07

Dan and I spent the weekend at a SHOR retreat (Shepherds Haven of Rest) for pastors and wives at the Cornerstone Victorian B&B in Warrensburg, NY, near Lake George. The Cornerstone is owned by Doug and Louise Goettsche formerly of the Thompson House in Windham. It was a great time of rest and relaxation, catching up with old friends and enjoying the beauty of the lake and mountains. We spent some time visiting with Nancy DeLivron who went to Kings College and Columbia-Pres School of Nursing with me eons ago....
